This past week marked the official end to Season One high school sports. Boys tennis and girls golf concluded their respective seasons. For tennis, the boys finished with an overall record of 9-2 and would have clinched a playoff spot if there was a postseason this year. This would have marked a run of six of the last seven years for a postseason appearance for the Mustangs. Oakdale’s team featured two seniors on the team: Jimmy Homer and Jack Tienkin. To end their season the Mustangs defeated Weston Ranch 8-0 and Ripon Christian 6-2.
In girls golf Oakdale capped off their season with a win over Kimball at Tracy Golf and Country Club. Shealyn Hanrahan led the team shooting a 39 on the day. Both Tori Blanc and Kaylie Parola turned in a score of 44. Makena Mendonca shot 49 against the Jaguars and Janelle Velazquez shot 56. Rounding out the day for Oakdale was Alivia Antinetti at 61.
“It was a good year for gaining experience with the short season,” said Oakdale coach Lee McGee. “Nice to be able to safely get out and compete after almost a full year off of any competition.”
