After battling East Union to a 0-0 tie, the Oakdale High School girls soccer team set their sights set on a postseason run. Oakdale, which earned the fifth seed in the 2025 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Playoffs, was scheduled to host the number 12 seed Buhach Colony on Tuesday night, Feb. 18 following The Leader press time.

The Mustangs finished second in the Valley Oak League with a record of 9-1-2. Buhach Colony finished second in their league, Central California Conference, and much like the Mustangs the Thunder are coming off a tie entering the playoffs.

The field is stacked in the tournament as the top seed is the Valley Oak League champion Sierra. The bracket also includes Fairfield, Christian Brothers, Wood, Del Campo, Ceres, Colfax, Rosemont, Ponderosa, East Union, Pioneer, Beyer, Roseville and Burbank.

A win in the first round would put Oakdale up against the winner of the Del Campo – Ceres contest. The second-round games are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20.

Closing out their season with a home victory, the Oakdale varsity soccer boys defeated East Union 2-1 on Feb. 11, a night that also included recognition for the seniors on the squad. Abraham Isidro scored both goals for Oakdale in the win. Hayden Koehler had an assist.
