Taking the home court and avenging an earlier season league loss to Mountain House, the Oakdale Lady Mustangs volleyball squad entered this week with an 8-1 Valley Oak League record. That was good for first place in the tough VOL, and the girls swept to a pair of wins this past week to solidify their standing.

Hosting Mountain House on Oct. 7, it was a 25-17, 26-24, 25-12 decision for Oakdale. The team was paced by Jaedyn Riley with 10 kills, five aces and 26 assists.

Taeya Riley added 11 kills, Avery Gleason recorded five blocks and Payton Wilson had 13 digs. The 3-0 sweep of the Mountain House Lady Mustangs avenged the 3-0 loss the Oakdale girls were handed back in mid-September on the road.

Thursday, Oct. 9, they traveled to East Union and swept past the Lancers 3-0. They were scheduled to host Sierra on Tuesday, Oct. 14 for Senior Night, then close out the regular season on the road with games at Central Catholic on Oct. 16 and Manteca on Oct. 21.

The JV girls also got a pair of victories this past week, defeating Mountain House 2-1 and taking down East Union by the same 2-1 final.

WATER POLO

Recent action in the pool for the varsity water polo boys saw them fall at Ripon, taking an 18-11 loss to the host Indians.

The varsity girls earned a 13-5 win at Ripon and earlier defeated the Lincoln Trojans in non-league tournament play, 17-8.

The teams are scheduled to host Sonora on Oct. 15.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Two games, with identical scores, were featured on the flag football field for Oakdale, with one going in the win column and one going in the books as a loss.

The varsity flag football Lady Mustangs first got a win, as they hosted Mountain House on Oct. 7 and defeated the visitors in a 27-0 shutout.

Then, they traveled to Patterson on Oct. 9 and found themselves on the losing end of a 27-0 score.

They are slated to host Central Catholic on Thursday, Oct. 16.

TENNIS

A Thursday, Oct. 9 match on the road at Mountain House was a tough one for the varsity girls on the tennis court. The host team took the win via shutout, 9-0. Oakdale is scheduled to play next at Sierra on Thursday, Oct. 16.
