After breezing past the Valley Vikings, Oakdale sets its sights on the Will C. Wood Wildcats this Friday night. The second round of the 2018 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV is set and the fifth seeded Mustangs will travel to Vacaville to tangle with the fourth seeded Wildcats.

Oakdale is coming off a 54-6 home win over Valley while Wood is well rested after having the week off. However, Wood enters the playoffs on a two game skid where they have lost to Vanden 35-21 and their latest loss came to Vacaville 34-31 on Oct. 26. Wood placed fourth in the Monticello Empire League and finished with a 4-2 overall record.

The Mustangs looked like a much different team when the playoffs started as to their regular season finale. Oakdale took out their frustrations on Valley and hope to keep the momentum going for the postseason road trip.

The tournament started with a dozen teams but now, eight remain. If the Mustangs are victorious this Friday night the team will face the winner of top ranked Rio Linda and eight seed Pacheco. Pacheco is coming off a thrilling 34-33 road win over Valley Oak League team Sierra. Other second round matchups in the bracket are Patterson (6) at Casa Roble (3) and Cordova (10) at Vanden (2).
