Mustang Soccer Returns With Mixed Results

Returning to action, the Oakdale High School boys and girls varsity soccer teams made their season debuts with a few matches this past week.

For the boys team, Oakdale had a pair of matches on the road. They opened up the season against Weston Ranch. The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie. The match took place on April 20. Oakdale’s goals came from Edgar Gonzalez and Caden Frazee. Both goals were assisted by Kaleb McDonald. Riley Blount served as goalkeeper for the Mustangs. On April 22 the boys answered with a 3-1 road win over Ripon. McDonald scored a goal and dished out an assist. Kevin Camelin and Miguel Lopez each had a goal. Joel Gonzalez and Alfredo Fernandez each had an assist. Blount was once again serving as goalkeeper and had five saves in the win. Oakdale’s lone match of this week takes place Thursday night, April 29 when they host Weston Ranch. The contest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

For the girls, Oakdale had one contest and defeated Weston Ranch 7-0. Having the first goal of the season was Trista French. Also finding the net for Oakdale were Alondra Hernandez Vigil, Kyndra Obermeyer and Victoria Caldwell each had one goal. Leading the team with three goals was Maquel Besson. Ximena Vigil, Payton Obermeyer, Kyndra Obermeyer and French each had an assist. Oakdale travels to Modesto to face Central Catholic on Wednesday, April 28 at 3 p.m.
