Traveling for an 18-hole tournament this past week, members of the Oakdale Lady Mustangs golf team participated in the Merced Invitational at Merced Country Club on Aug. 28. With 13 teams battling it out, it was Turlock High School that took first place with a score of 331. Oakdale placed second overall at 387; El Capitan placed third at 420. Other schools in the tournament were: Atwater (428), Hughson (436), Hilmar (441), Buhach Colony (446), Livingston (460), Riverbank (465), Sonora (469), Pitman (495), Merced (517) and Summerville (No Score).
Representing Oakdale where Xcaret Duque, Hannah Herschbach, Reagan Shatswell, Sam Oliveira and Madison Bohannon. Duque shot 91 on the day and finished sixth overall. Just two strokes behind her was Herschbach, 93, who placed seventh overall. Shatswell finished with shooting a 94 on the day and playing in her first ever 18-hole tournament was Oliveira, who shot 109. Rounding out the tournament for Oakdale was Bohannon at 117.
Oakdale returned to the green on Tuesday, Sept. 5 when they hosted Manteca for the first Valley Oak League action of the season. The contest was to be held at Oakdale Golf and Country Club.
The Mustangs then travel to Tracy to face Kimball on Thursday, Sept. 7 at Tracy Golf and Country Club at 3:15 p.m.
