Roughly 200 runners took to the streets of Oakdale on Saturday morning for the 2010 Don Osborne Memorial Library Run. Hosted by the Oakdale Lions Club and overseen by the Modesto-based ShadowChase Running Club, the run began near the library at South First Avenue and G Street. Two different races were offered, the one-mile run and the 5K walk/run. Conditions were picture perfect, with cool morning air and some sunshine greeting those on hand for the event, which raises money for the local library and its programs for the community.

With runners vying for top honors, Bib No. 4 of Michael Boyer crossed the finish line well ahead of the rest, taking first place for the 1-mile run at 5 minutes, 30.6 seconds.

He was followed by Steve Cooper and Oakdale’s own, Janice Kesterson, the top female finisher, who took third place overall in 6:12.3. In the women’s 16-to-19 category, Taylor Hobbs was first and 15th overall, 7:35 while in the men’s 16-to-19 division, Todd Medema came in first, 14th overall in 7:25.7.

In the 5K walk/run, 17-year-old Roberto Rosas sped ahead of the pack with an easy win in 15:56.6. Ruben Esparza and Raymond Rodriguez followed in succession while 13 year-old Oscar Madrigal managed to sneak into fourth.

Oakdale’s Stacey Brown also finished the race in 60th while Oakdale natives Cindi Medlen (73rd) and Kathy Wallace (78th) also finished the race.
