The varsity girls basketball team is off to a nice start with their latest win coming on Tuesday, Dec. 6 in their lone game of the week. Oakdale knocked off Riverbank 58-28 for their fourth straight win to start the season. Leading the way for Oakdale were Sara Bohrer and Zoe Gillen who scored 14 points each. Oakdale had four players in double digits as Maddy Brewer scored 11 and Grace Higle put in 10 for the Lady Mustangs. Oakdale resumed play as the girls took on Hilmar on Tuesday, Dec. 13 following The Leader’s press time. The Lady Mustangs have three straight home games beginning with Ripon Christian on Thursday night, Dec. 15. Oakdale will host Johansen on Friday night and Central Valley on Monday night. All games are scheduled for 7 p.m., except Friday night’s game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
JUNIOR VARSITY
The junior varsity girls continued their dominance with a 64-10 road win over Riverbank on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Oakdale improved to 5-0 following the win. The young Lady Mustangs built up a commanding 45-2 halftime lead and never looked back. Like the varsity girls, Oakdale’s JV team has a trio of home games coming up on the schedule starting with Ripon Christian on Thursday night. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
FRESHMEN
The youngest of the Lady Mustangs teams did not play against Riverbank this past week, as the Bruins do not field a frosh squad. The Oakdale freshmen will host Pacheco on Thursday night with tip off scheduled for 4 p.m.
