The Oakdale Mustang tennis team remains in the playoff hunt following their 6-3 win over visiting Weston Ranch. Oakdale’s match took place under the sun on Friday, March 18 at OHS where the team’s doubles came through in the clutch, winning all three matches to help power Oakdale to victory.

Jacob Pierson and Tyler Ross gave up a total of one game on the afternoon winning 6-0, 6-1 in straight sets for the Mustangs. A similar score came from Oakdale’s number two team of Daniel Lubeck and Daniel Davis. “The Daniels” defeated the Cougar team 6-0, 6-1 to give Oakdale the win. Oakdale’s number three doubles team of Dustin Hoy and Dimitri Lolonis were pushed to the limit as the duo squeaked out a dramatic three set victory. After falling 5-7 in the first set, Hoy and Lolonis answered back with a 6-2 victory to force a third set. The four battled it out but it Hoy and Lolonis came out victorious over their Weston Ranch opponents with an 11-9 win.

In singles Zack Miller (6-0, 6-1), Devin Odom (6-2, 6-3) and Bronson Knowles (6-3, 6-3) all won their sets.

Oakdale hosted Kimball on Tuesday, March 22 following The Leader’s deadline. The Mustangs return to the court on Thursday, March 24 when they host East Union. Matches begin at 3:30 p.m.
