Saturday, Nov. 11 the Oakdale Stampede clashed with the Ceres Seahawks in the AFC Championship Game. The two teams have been rivals over recent seasons and this year was no different. The 2017 CenCal Youth Football League AFC Championship contest featured the top seeded Seahawks taking on the second seeded Stampede at Ceres High School.
Earlier in the season, Ceres defeated Oakdale 24-14 inside The Corral. Fast forward two months and it was the Stampede coming away with the upset over Ceres on the road, taking a 16-6 victory to claim the conference championship.
This Saturday night the Stampede will take on the Bears of Merced in the CenCal Youth Football Super Bowl. The Bears defeated the Pride 14-0 in the NFC Championship Game to reach the finals.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday night at Merced High School.
