Oakdale’s youth football and cheer program kicked off this past weekend with the Stampede hosting the Central Valley 49ers. The Stampede made short work of the visitors, as all levels of Oakdale finished the weekend with victories. The Pee-Wee team won in overtime 19-12 on a touchdown run by Maddox Dias. The Junior Varsity boys shut out the 49ers 42-0 under quarterback Mickey Merzon, and a big offensive line anchored by center Bradley Joseph. The offensive line helped open holes for runners Yahir Ayala, Chris Thomas, Tate Cassaretto and Dalton Vargas, who all rushed for touchdowns in the win.
The varsity boys capped off the evening with a convincing 38-14 win. Central Valley could not stop the running of Zeke Saffar who rushed for multiple touchdowns for the Stampede.
Oakdale will host the Jaguars of Manteca on Saturday with the Rookies game beginning at 1 p.m. from The Corral at Oakdale High School.
