In a recent ceremony, the 2015 Oakdale High School Water Polo teams were honored. Both varsity teams enjoyed postseason success as the boys won a first round playoff game 10-8 over Bear River. Oakdale’s Jared Kahler scored six of the goals for the team in that thrilling victory. Nate Van Cleave led the team in assists in the game with four. Their impressive performances in the postseason, as well as during the regular season, led the two of them to a shared Most Valuable Player award, along with Spencer Lee. Oakdale also handed out the Mustang Award to Sam Cole.

Awards were also presented to the varsity girls. Oakdale’s Lady Mustangs captured their third consecutive Sac-Joaquin Section title in 2015, and their sixth consecutive Valley Oak League title. Taking home hardware was Most Valuable Player, senior goalkeeper Caitlin Golding. The future UC Davis Aggie was a force to be reckoned with during the season as well as the postseason as the senior gave up only 12 goals in three playoff games. Fellow senior Kate Allan took home the Playmaker of the Year award, and sophomore utility player, Whitney Lee was named Defensive Player of the Year winner.
