Record Setting Performances For Pair Of Oakdale Swimmers
OHS Mustangs

Sophomore Stash Perry broke two records for Oakdale High School at the recent 2018 Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming Finals hosted at Tokay High School in Lodi. Perry broke two records set by Soren Dickens. Perry swam the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.44, nearly two seconds faster than the former record. He also broke the 500-yard freestyle by less than one second.

“When I looked up at the board I was very excited but did not want to stress it in front of the other competitors in the pool. I did not want them to think I was excited about beating them; my excitement was for the school records,” said Perry.

He finished tenth in the 200 and ninth in the 500.

A few weeks ago Caden Nord set the Oakdale High School record in the 100-yard butterfly and in his final swim, he broke it again. Nord broke the five-year-old record at the VOL Championship with a time of 54.18 and shattered it again with a time of 53.68 at the Section Finals.

Ethan Perry placed ninth in the 200 meter IM and also placed 13th overall in the 100-yard backstroke event. Chandler Neal placed 12th overall in the 50-yard freestyle event.

For the girls Kayla Peterson, Madi Blanc, Daytona McGinnis and Kassidy Houck finished 13th in a pair of relays. The foursome competed in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay as well.
