Oakdale Swimmers Blast Past Cougars In Pool

The Oakdale Mustang swim program made short work of visiting Weston Ranch this past Friday. Oakdale’s varsity girls team defeated the Cougars 109-4 and the varsity boys swam away from Weston Ranch 76-23 at the Oakdale Aquatic Center.

In girls action, Bethany Metcalfe took first place in a pair of events. She claimed first in both the 50 and 200 meter freestyle events earning a dozen points for Oakdale. Metcalfe was also on the first place 200 meter freestyle relay team along with Whitney Lee, Natalie Thompson and Ashlynn Leibenson.

Whitney Lee earned a first place finish in the 100 meter butterfly and took second in the 200 meter freestyle events. Ashlynn Leibenson placed first in the 200 IM event. Neesa Deleon placed first in the 100 meter backstroke and second in the 50 meter freestyle to help the team. Alyssa Castano earned a pair of second place finishes as she took second in both the 100 meter backstroke and the 200 IM. Hannah Lee placed first in the 100 meter breaststroke event. Also taking first place in an event was Charlotte Liekhus in the 100 meter freestyle.

For the boys it was Cole Liekhus taking first in both the 100 meter butterfly and the 200 IM. He was also on the first place 200 meter medley relay team along with Caden Nord, Kyle McIntosh and Tyler Gross. Caden Nord placed first in the 50 meter freestyle event. Dyllon Jones placed first in the 200 freestyle for Oakdale. David Terwilliger placed second in the 50 freestyle event.

It will be a busy weekend for the Mustangs swim team as they host both East Union and Ripon this Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday morning the team will head to Ripon for the varsity Ripon Invite meet. The meet is scheduled for 9 a.m. This will be their last meet until April 13 due to spring break.
