Oakdale Squads Complete Fall Sports Scrimmages

A handful of Oakdale High School teams completed their preseason scrimmages this past week and now turn their attention toward the regular season.

The defending Valley Oak League girls golf team competed in a pair of scrimmages this past week against Downey and Turlock. On Tuesday, Aug. 29 the girls opened their season against Kimball in Valley Oak League action. The match was held following The Leader’s press time. Oakdale will host Livingston in a non-league contest on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Oakdale Golf and Country Club. Tee time is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 the girls host East Union in their Valley Oak League home opener.

On Friday, Aug. 25 the cross country team held its Red and Gold Fox Trot outside of campus. This was a team scrimmage and the regular season will have Oakdale compete in the Jaguar Invitational at Eagal Lakes in Tracy on Thursday, Aug. 31. The event is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Oakdale’s volleyball club began their season at the Foundation Game on Monday, Aug. 28 at Beyer High School in Modesto. This was for varsity players only and was held following The Leader’s press time. Oakdale also hosted Hughson on Tuesday, Aug. 29 following press time. Oakdale will host Sonora in a non-league contest on Thursday, Aug. 31 with freshmen taking the court at 4 p.m., followed by the junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The girls tennis team competed in two road scrimmages this past week as they took on Enochs and Turlock. Oakdale opens up league play on Tuesday, Sept. 5 on the road against Weston Ranch. Oakdale’s home opener will be Thursday, Sept. 7 against East Union and is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

In the pool, the varsity water polo boys went to 0-2 in a pair of non-league games in Sonora this past weekend. Oakdale fell to both Sonora and Christian Brothers. The boys return to the pool on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at home against Pitman. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. The girls water polo team was off this week but will head to Clovis to take part in the Central Valley Showdown on Friday, Sept. 1 and complete the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 2.
