The 2018 regular season is winding down for the Oakdale High School track and field team. This past week, both the Oakdale boys and girls varsity teams defeated visiting Central Catholic. The boys won 98-37 and the girls were victorious, 97-34.

Sophomore Kayden Legan continues her impressive season as she picked up wins in a pair of individual races. Legan took first place in both the 3200 meter and the 1600 meter races. She was also a part of the first place 4x400 relay team.

Cassie England also helped carry Oakdale with wins in four individual events. She took first in the triple jump (34 feet, seven inches), the long jump (16 feet, two inches), the 100 meter hurdles and the high jump at five feet even.

In the field events, head coach Brett Chappell has coached the girls to an unbeaten record so far this year. Emma Harper took first in the discus at 128 feet and eleven inches. Angie Lowry claimed first in the shot put at 37 feet and five inches.

In boys action, freshman Zeke Saffar took first in two individual races, winning both the 100 and 200 meter races. Saffar also took first in the long jump and was on the first place 4x100 relay team. Hunter Falconi placed first in the triple jump and the high jump. Cameron Burke placed first in both the 300 meter hurdles and the 400 meter race. Ben Chappell took first in discus at 144 feet and Jorge Barajas placed first in the shot put at nearly 48 feet.
