Mixed Results For Mustang Swimmers In Road Meet

A non-league meet saw Oakdale travel south to Atwater on Thursday, March 23 for some competition in the pool. Oakdale’s girls won 120-61 but the boys fell by a 106-62 decision.

Swimming hard for the Lady Mustangs was Kayla Peterson, who took first place in the women’s 500 yard freestyle and the 200 yard Individual Medley, IM. Also taking first place were Jensen Perry in the 200 yard freestyle, Kassidy Houck in the 100 yard butterfly, Daytona McGinnis in the 100 yard freestyle, Madi Blanc in the 100 yard backstroke and Juliette Leibenson in the 100 yard breaststroke. Second place finishers included Natalie Thompson in the 100 yard breaststroke, Nessa Deleon in the 100 yard backstroke, Clare McKeon in the 100 yard freestyle, Andrea York in the 100 yard butterfly and Alyssa Castano in the 200 yard IM.

The boys had standouts of their own as Ethan Perry claimed first place in the men’s 200 yard IM, Perry also took second in the 500 yard freestyle, with Caden Nord second in the 100 yard butterfly and Jackson Metcalfe second in the 100 yard breaststroke. Stash Perry placed third in the 200 yard freestyle, Zach Hill placed third in the 50 yard freestyle and Chandler Neal finished third in the 100 yard freestyle for Oakdale.

Oakdale returns to the pool for Valley Oak League action on Thursday, April 6. The Mustangs and Lady Mustangs host Sierra and Lathrop at The Aquatic Center at Oakdale High School with the meet scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
