Putting the exclamation point on their season, the Oakdale golf girls played at Tracy Golf and Country Club for the Sac-Joaquin Section D III Championship and came home with the blue banner.

Like they have all season, the Lady Mustangs came out victorious. As a team, the girls shot a team low 454 at the Oct. 23 competition, with Vista del Lago placing second at 481. This is Oakdale’s first blue banner in over a decade. With the win the girls advanced to the 2017 Masters.

Leading the way for Oakdale was Taylor Stewart, who shot an 83 through 18 holes. Stewart tied for third overall in the tournament, and was three strokes off the leader. Andrea York shot an 89 for Oakdale and was four strokes behind the fifth place finisher just missing out on a medal. Both Makayla Christiansen and Madi Blanc shot a 93 on the day. Oakdale’s final two golfers of the day were Shealyn Hanrahan and Allie Denning, who both shot a 96.

The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters was held Monday, Oct. 30 at Spanos Park in Stockton following The Leader’s press time. Results of the Masters will appear in the Nov. 8 edition of The Leader and will be posted online later this week.
