Junior Varsity Boys Win Consolation Bracket

The 48th annual Oakdale Rotary Classic saw the Oakdale junior varsity boys win the consolation side of the hoops bracket on Friday, Dec. 29 when they knocked off Downey 63-50. Oakdale began the tournament with a loss to Grace Davis but regrouped and won two straight games to close out the tournament on a high note on their home court. Seven teams came to town for the near half century tradition; Argonaut, Thomas Downey, Grace Davis, Patterson, Hughson, Los Banos, Pitman and Ripon Christian.

On Thursday afternoon Oakdale defeated Hughson 60-36 behind Jonah Norman’s 16 points and Jason Rawe added 14 points in the win. Oakdale never trailed in the contest.

Friday morning the team fell behind against Thomas Downey but did not fold, as they came rallied to beat the Knights. Four Mustang players scored in double digits to help power Oakdale to victory. Peyton Bradford (15), Dom Antinetti (12), Jaiden Williams (11), and Jonah Norman (11) all scored in double figures for Oakdale.

The Mustangs junior varsity boys will open up their regular season on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at Kimball at 5:30 p.m. Oakdale returns home Friday, Jan. 5 to take on Weston Ranch with a 5:30 tipoff time.
