Girls Hoops Win Lone Game This Week

The Oakdale varsity girls basketball team played one game this past week and came out on top. On Friday, Dec. 22 the team traveled to Ceres to take on the Central Valley Hawks, where Oakdale won 57-31 in the road contest.

Oakdale began the game on a fast pace and did not slow down. The girls took a commanding 18-4 first quarter lead and went into halftime up 33-15. Leading the way for Oakdale were Grace Higle with 18 points and Alicia Platt with 13 points and eight rebounds. Caroline Hamilton posted nine points and five rebounds in the win.

On Wednesday, Dec. 27 the team was supposed to travel to Tracy High School but the game was rescheduled for a later date. Oakdale hosted Livingston on Saturday night, following The Leader’s holiday press time.

Tuesday night, Jan. 2 the team opened up their Valley Oak League season against Kimball; that game also held following press time. Oakdale travels to Weston Ranch and East Union before returning home on Thursday, Jan. 11 against Lathrop with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Last season Oakdale finished with a 3-11 league record and came in sixth place.

 

JUNIOR VARSITY

Oakdale knocked off Central Valley 47-22 on Friday, Dec. 22 in their lone game of the week. Kayden Legan scored a game high 13 points and Kendra Branch added 12 points. Oakdale opened up league play on Tuesday night Jan. 2 against Kimball at home. Thursday, Jan. 4 the girls are at Weston Ranch with a tipoff time of 5:30 p.m.

 

FRESHMEN

The freshmen were off this week and returned to the court to start league play against Kimball on Tuesday night, Jan. 2. Oakdale travels to Stockton to play Weston Ranch at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4.
