OHS Mustangs

Preseason contests saw plenty of Oakdale teams in action this week, the Mustang and Lady Mustangs squads hitting the courts, fields and pools for scrimmage play just before the start of the regular season. Here is a brief recap of the action.

 

Girls Tennis - Oakdale played a pair of scrimmages against Turlock and Enochs this past week. The team will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 6 when Oakdale hosts Weston Ranch in the Valley Oak League action.

 

Girls Golf - Oakdale teed off with scrimmage rounds against Gregori and Downey in preparation for the start of the season. Oakdale took on Weston Ranch at Van Buskirk Golf Course on Tuesday, Aug. 30, following The Leader’s press time. The Lady Mustangs will travel to Manteca Park to play Manteca in their second VOL match on Thursday, Sept. 1. Their first home match play will be Tuesday, Sept. 6 against Lathrop at 3 p.m.; all Oakdale home games are played at Oakdale Golf and Country Club.

 

Girls Water Polo - The defending Sac-Joaquin Section Champions hosted scrimmages with a number of teams this past weekend at the Aquatic Center. The Lady Mustangs will be playing in the Central Valley Showdown Tournament in Clovis beginning Friday, Sept. 9 and conclude the following day. Their quest to earn another Section championship begins on Tuesday, Sept. 13 when the Lady Mustangs host Rio Americano. Game time is set for 4 p.m.

 

Cross Country - Oakdale hosted their annual Red and Gold Fox Trot on Friday, Aug. 26. The team begins their regular season campaign on Thursday, Sept. 1 when they head to Tracy for the Jaguar Invitational. The action is set to begin at 3 p.m.

 

Volleyball - Oakdale Volleyball opened the season in the Beyer Foundation Game held Monday night, Aug. 29 following The Leader’s press time. Oakdale also traveled to Hughson following press time on Tuesday, Aug. 30 in a non-league game. The girls head to Sonora on Thursday, Sept. 1 and have their home opener against Escalon on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The freshmen begin at 4 p.m. followed by the junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity is scheduled for 6 p.m.
