It was a tough week for Oakdale football as they took on Central Catholic in both freshman and junior varsity action. Thursday night the freshmen hosted the Raiders at The Corral. The Ponies took an early 7-0 lead that they took into the second quarter. However, the Raiders outscored the Mustangs 40-7 over the second and third quarters to take a 40-14 lead into the fourth quarter. Oakdale outscored Central Catholic 21-13 in the final frame but came up short 53-35 in the regular season finale.
The next night, Oakdale’s junior varsity team went into David Patton Memorial Field to face the Raiders. After a scoreless first quarter, Central Catholic opened up with a 9-0 lead after a one yard touchdown run by Dauson Booker with 5:51 left in the half. Oakdale’s lone score of the game came on a nine-yard run by Zack Campbell with 3:21 left in the first half.
The Colts were outscored 21-0 in the second half thanks to Booker who rushed for a pair of third quarter touchdowns from 58 and 59 yards out. Central Catholic’s knockout blow came on a Josh Hamilton 52 yard rushing score with 8:07 remaining in the game. Oakdale could not cash in on red zone opportunities as the Colts committed three turnovers, including a fumble in the end zone in the third quarter. The Colts finished the season with a league record of 5-2.
