With four games to play, Oakdale High’s varsity girls soccer delivered a stunning flurry of goals to outscore opponents 8-1, oust Manteca 3-0 and clinch a spot in the playoffs with a clutch 3-0 win over Sonora on April 30.

The wins locked the third seed from the Valley Oak League into the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs and showed some serious improvement from a program that opened the conference 1-2.

The Lady Mustangs, who finished 9-5 for the VOL campaign, earn collective Athlete of the Week recognition from The Leader for their sterling efforts.
