Being a part of last year’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV Champion golf team has done wonders for the career of Oakdale High junior, Michael Tripp. The savvy links master landed Oakdale’s lowest score of the season with a sterling 36-stroke effort in a rout of Buhach Colony last week.
It was the first time an Oakdale golfer had landed an even-par score at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, a feat his teammate Ian Stogdell repeated on April 14 in a win over East Union. Tripp shot a 39 in that match, limiting key strokes in a thrilling 1-point win over the former Valley Oak League champion Lancers.
Tripp earns Athlete of the Week honors from The Leader for his efforts.
Tripp has been sharp all season, and will continue to be a big part of Oakdale’s season going forward.
