It was only fitting that a spectacular performance by junior guard Christina Cobarruvias was highlighted by a signature moment in the Mustang gymnasium on Jan. 16.

The Oakdale varsity girls basketball standout dashed under the hoop before a twisting, arching reverse layup amidst a crowd of defenders. The converted basket led her to a game-high 12 points during Oakdale’s hard-fought 45-37 defeat to Lathrop.

Cobarruvias was terrific throughout the contest and earns Athlete of the Week recognition from The Leader for her efforts.
