Oakdale High School’s varsity soccer girls battled to a pair of playoff wins this past week.

In the 2025 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Girls Championship Division III tournament, Oakdale notched wins over Buhach Colony and Del Campo. Wednesday, Feb. 26 the Lady Mustangs will host eighth seeded Christian Brothers in the semifinals at 6 p.m.

A victory on Wednesday night would see Oakdale travel to Cosumnes River College on Saturday, March 1 to face the winner of the other semifinal match, pitting number two seed Roseville against third seed Colfax. The championship match is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m.

Oakdale, the fifth seed, began their playoff journey when they hosted the 12th seeded Buhach Colony Thunder on Tuesday night, Feb. 18. It was a 3-1 first round victory for Oakdale as three different Mustangs scored a goal. Freshmen Kaia Cox and Ceci Cotton each had a goal and sophomore Dakota Burford also scored a goal. Burford also had an assist as did Jocelyn Gradilla. Oakdale had a 1-0 lead at the half and pulled away from the Thunder in the second half. In the net for Oakdale was senior Avery Alves. She had four saves in the win and gave up one goal.

Thursday, Feb. 20 Oakdale faced off against the number four seed Del Campo. In the intense battle, it was Oakdale that ultimately celebrated a 1-0 win over the Cougars that took two overtimes. It was a game winning goal by freshman Ashlyn Splettstoesser on an assist by Burford. Alves was busy in the net as she had seven saves in the win.

Oakdale will be on their home turf for the Feb. 26 semifinal round, but will be facing the eighth seed Christian Brothers, who upset top seed Sierra of Manteca in the quarterfinals. The teams were knotted at 1-1 after regulation and Christian Brothers got a 6-5 win in the shootout in the Feb. 20 game.
