Strong play translated to more victories for the Oakdale High School girls golf and tennis teams this past week. Volleyball battled tough but came up just short, as the squads work their way through the Valley Oak League schedule.

On the links, it was three wins for the Lady Mustang golfers. Oakdale defeated Kimball via forfeit as the Jaguars did not field a full team. Oct. 3, the OHS girls hosted East Union where Oakdale pulled off a 254-281 home win over the Lancers. Both teams entered the match 3-0 in nine-hole action, and the two teams finished first and second in the first two 18-hole VOL tournaments. With Oakdale on a week break due to maintenance at Oakdale Golf and Country Club, this was the first time taking the course in over a week. Leading Oakdale on the day was sophomore Regan Shatswell who carded a 44. She was followed by fellow sophomore Aubrey Thompson with a 48. Hannah Herschbach and Xcaret Duque both shot 51, while Sam Oliveira (60) and Jenna O’Neil (64) rounded out the scoring for Oakdale.

Thursday, Oct. 5 the girls traveled to Manteca Park Golf Course to face Sierra. Oakdale won 240-337. Leading the way for the Mustangs were juniors Herschbach (44) and Duque (44). Other scores included Thompson (46), Shatswell (51), Oliveira (55) and O’Neil (65).

Oakdale next turns its attention to the VOL Championship tournament, being hosted on Oct. 17 at Micke Grove in Lodi.
