Lady Mustang Hoops Fall Victim To Wolves

In the team’s lone Valley Oak League (VOL) game this week, Oakdale’s varsity girls basketball team fell to the host Sierra Lady Timberwolves (13-5, 1-1) by a 43-29 decision. The game was played on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Sierra High School. In the contest Tayler Lamb scored a team high 10 points for Oakdale, Amber Robinson added five points and Aiden Hill had four.

Oakdale is now 0-3 in VOL action and 10-5 overall. They were scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 14 to take on Central Catholic (4-6, 0-3). The busy week continues when they host Weston Ranch (9-7, 0-2) on Thursday, Jan. 16 and then travel to Tracy to take on Kimball (15-4, 3-0) next Tuesday, Jan. 21. All games are scheduled for 7 p.m.

Oakdale’s junior varsity team came up short 38-30 against Sierra. Helena Hill scored a team high 19 points. Kassidy Femur had six rebounds and defensively Alivia Antinetti had six steals.

The freshman girls suffered a 31-14 road loss at Sierra. Jennifer Castro scored nine points for the youngest Lady Mustangs.

The JV and freshmen were slated to play at Central on Tuesday, after The Leader went to press. Thursday, they host Weston Ranch with freshmen at 4 p.m. and JV at 5:30 p.m.; the same start times are slated for next Tuesday, Jan. 21 on the road at Kimball.
