Five touchdowns, five different Oakdale Mustang Colts found the end zone in the team’s 38-6 home win over St. Mary’s. In a rare Thursday night junior varsity game, Oakdale made short work of the visitors to close out the preseason schedule with a win.

Oakdale had contributions from all three phases of the game to help lift them to the win. Donovan Walker rushed in from four yards out to give Oakdale an early 7-0 advantage. Less than a minute later, Zach Aloisio caught a 31-yard pass from quarterback Jackson Holt to go up 14-0. Oakdale extended their lead on a Caden Frazee 19-yard field goal to go up 17-0 in the second quarter.

On the defensive side, Rylan Kerr recovered a fumble and returned it to the house to advance Oakdale’s lead to 24-0 with 8:05 left in the half. The defense continued to bully St. Mary’s as Nico Villegas scored on a pick-six with 3:27 remaining in the first half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Oakdale struck in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter when Christian Ockey sprinted into the end zone from 55 yards out to go up 38-0. St. Mary’s scored their lone points with 4:07 left in the game.

“Our defense showed up and really motivated each other,” said head coach Matt Miranda.

Oakdale returns to Friday night action this week when they travel to Manteca to take on East Union in Valley Oak League action. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
