An Old Fashioned Christmas ... This Saturday we will celebrate the birth of Jesus, the reason for this season and our rural way of life in Valley Home. Blessings abound in this small community ... neighbors helping neighbors, the beauty of the land, friendships that become family, churches that welcome us, a school that inspires, general store always well stocked, well trained firefighters ready to serve, warm inviting homes where twinkling Christmas lights beckon us to enjoy the beauty of this special season, ranches where on a cold frosty morning you can still see a hardworking cowboy out breaking the ice for his herd, an old barn with a manger piled high with this season’s hay ... yes, we have many blessings.

On Saturday we will gather at 5:30 p.m. to enjoy the ninth annual Community Christmas Parade. All are welcome to enter or just come and watch this beautiful lighted Community Christmas Parade. Entries should arrive and stage near the community park before 5:15 p.m. Parade entries should be lighted, in good taste, safe and be ready to enjoy a very special evening! Best parade viewing will be on Texas Avenue in front of the old school. The parade usually circles the block two to three times before ending at the community park and school. This is not a 4-H sponsored parade, but rather a joyful celebration of the Christmas spirit within our Valley Home Community! Immediately after the parade our Grand Marshal will light the hundreds of dazzling bulbs that will bring the sparkling little Christmas tree to life! The Grand Marshal for the ninth annual Valley Home Christmas Parade is Miss Hayven Smith! Hayven is 7 years old, loves to sing and dance and has a smile that lights up the world!! Hayven has a personal motto, “You can do anything if you try hard enough!”

The 4-Hers will then lead the singing of old time favorite carols. After the tree lighting the school gym will open its doors to welcome all inside for a warm tasty holiday dinner sponsored by Valley Home 4-H! The 4-Hers will provide smoked turkey, Christmas ham, delicious tri-tip, table service, buttered bread, hot coffee, frosty cold Christmas punch and steaming hot chocolate! Everyone is invited to bring a favorite potluck dish to share with family and friends. Come one, come all, it’s going to be a very Merry Christmas in Valley Home! Jolly Ol’ Santa will be arriving from the North Pole for a visit with all good boys and girls. Leave your worries behind; come celebrate this very special season in this very special community! Any questions you may call Cody Bartholomew or Winnie Mullins at 985-5233.
