William W. Richardson, 65, died Friday, May 14 at his Oakdale home surrounded by his wife, children and friends.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1970 and worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1970-2004 in Computations.

Mr. Richardson was a volunteer for the Livermore Fire Department for 21 years and served as Captain of the volunteers for 10 years and was a past director of the Livermore Rodeo.

He was awarded Stanislaus County Chapter of the American Red Cross Volunteer of the Year 2009 and went on disaster deployment in 2005 to Louisiana and Mississippi, and Texas in 2008. He also enjoyed volunteering with the local Red Cross and riding his Harley with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Samantha Pontrelli of Wake Forest, N.C, Liane Arruda of Livermore, Sara Silva of Lodi, Adam of Danville; sisters, Sara Franklin of Vacaville, Jane Stephens of Tracy; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 3 at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in his name to the Stanislaus Chapter of the American Red Cross, 1230 6th St, Modesto, CA.
