Oct. 15, 1924 Aug. 7, 2016
Tony Machado K

Tony was born on October 15, 1924 in Stevenson, CA to Manuel and Angelina Machado. He passed away peacefully into God’s arms on August 7, 2016, in Ripon. Tony proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946 and had many stories to share. He married Adeline (Lena) Pereira on September 1, 1946 in Buhach, Ca. The family lived in the Snelling, Ca area until 1960 when they moved to Modesto and then settled in Oakdale in 1966. Tony owned his dairy farm in Hopeton in the early days and continued in the cow business until retiring from Foster Farms dairy. Tony had a true love for life and everyone he came in contact with became his friend. After retiring, you could find Tony on his daily walks all over Oakdale. Everyone in town knew “Mr. Machado,” a true Oakdale icon! Lena and family were top priority to Tony and he loved being amongst them for visits, holidays and other family gatherings. Lena cared for Tony until the last month of his life along with a little help from Jennifer Sabala and his girls. Tony and Lena would’ve been married 70 years on September 1, 2016.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Angelina Barcellos Machado, his father Manuel Machado, brother Manuel Machado, sister Mary Machado Pereira, eldest son Manuel Leroy Machado and several other relatives.
He is survived by his wife Lena Machado, daughters Lisa Husman (Kenneth), Caroline Hohenwarter (Thomas), Linda Rocha, Angelina Moore, Tony A. Machado (Lisa) and Rosemary Eriksen (Nick); 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A huge thank you to the Oakdale Police Department, Fire Department and all of the concerned citizens of Oakdale that looked after him and occasionally gave him a ride home from all of those walks over the years!
