Spencer Doffing

Spencer Leo Doffing, 63, died Friday, April 12 in Oakdale.

He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Eugene and Freida Doffing. He and his family moved to California when he was 12 and he went to Campbell grammar school, then on to Westmont High school, graduating in the class of 1968.

Mr. Doffing served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years as a radio operator on the USS Windham County LST-1170 and the Navy PBR Brown Water Navy.

He married Gloria Doffing in Santa Clara on May 19, 1984. He moved his family to Oakdale in1988.

He was a draftsman for a time then went on to work in the manufacturing business, and retired in 2009.

He was involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Romain Schell Post 2922 for 24 years as adjutant and Color Guard. He loved being there for all of Oakdale High School’s football games and the boys and girls softball leagues for the Parks and Recreation. He loved reading his Bible, music, camping, rock climbing, and working on his walking sticks, wood working crafts, and most of all he loved singing.

The family appreciates the prayers and support.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Gloria; son, Nate Doffing; daughter, Corwyn (Rob) Sheridan; sisters, Kathy Rauber, Theresa Doffing; brother, Nick Doffing; in laws, Karen Doffing, David Rauber, Ernie Espinoza; mother-in-law, Julia Espinoza; five grandchildren; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26 at Oak Valley Church, 175 Bryan Ave., Oakdale. Flowers to be delivered to the church.
