Sharon Benedix
0808 OBIT SL Benedix

Sharon Louise Benedix, 69, of Dorrington, died Friday, June 22 surrounded by her loving family in Rocklin.

She was born at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Escalon on March 13, 1943 to Richard and Thora Benedix. She had lived many years in the mountain community of Dorrington before spending her last couple of months in Rocklin.

She was raised in Valley Home with her three sisters and many cousins and friends. She attended Valley Home Elementary School and Oakdale High School. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Valley Home.

Ms. Benedix completed her education, becoming a nurse, when her two daughters were young. Her career included years of care for many people in need of the compassion she was known for showing to her patients.

She was creative and handy. No household task was too big a challenge. She had a green thumb and there were many personal touches she made to her mountain yard over the years.

She was also a loving, hands-on grandmother, great-grandmother and great aunt, known as Granny to all. She was loved by the young people in her life, always talking to them on their level, and respecting their opinions and individuality.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim (John) Holte of San Mateo and Sally (Bill) Randall of Rocklin; sisters, Audrey Rinna of Valley Home, Ricky Gibbs of Salida, Judy Duncan of Concord; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Thora.

A celebration of life will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19 at the home of Janet Willett and Ken Simmons, 26050 Edwards Ave., Escalon.
