Ronald Douglas “Ron” Jamison, 64, died Saturday, Aug. 22 at his home in Welling, OK after an extended illness. 

He was born in Oakdale to Leon and Clara L. (Rozell) Jamison. Upon completing high school, he attended Modesto Junior College, where he obtained his Associates of Arts. He also attended the University of California at Davis where he obtained his bachelor’s in Agricultural Science.

During the Vietnam Conflict, Mr. Jamison served his country in the U.S. Army and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his time in the service, he returned to the Tahlequah, OK area and began his career in ranching. In 1983, he married Betty Lou Mills in Wagoner County, OK and together they raised their family in the Tahlequah area.

He will be remembered fondly as the owner/operator of the Tahlequah Mill and Elevator. He also served on the Oklahoma Scenic River Commission and various cattlemen’s associations. When he wasn’t working, he loved a day spent hunting or fishing. He enjoyed attending OU football games and reading historical novels.

He was happiest when spending time with his family. He strongly valued the education of children and was infinitely supportive of their endeavors. He was a Christian by faith and a charter member of the Oakdale General Baptist Church. He later attended the Welling General Baptist Church, where his father served as the Pastor.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; mother, Clara of Welling, OK; children, Judson Jamison, and Jessica (Kenney) Secratt, all of Tahlequah, OK; stepchildren, Terri (James) Brown of Aubrey, TX, Mike (Rhonda) Madewell of Owasso, OK, and Felicia (Alan) Reasor of Bixby, OK; sister, Brenda (Fulton) Nash of Tahlequah, OK; brother, Dr. Alton (Erna) Jamison of Pullman, WA; grandchildren, Cassidy Kennedy, Jake Kennedy, Miranda Kennedy and Maddie Madewell; nieces, Carrie Nash and Ashley Jamison; great-niece Alyssa Nash; and many cousins, friends and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Leon Jamison in 2001; and by his cousins, Zeke Rozell, Wayne Green, and Hooter Christie.

Funeral services were held Aug. 25 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Jones officiating. Interment followed at Tahlequah City Cemetery.
