Phillip G. Burch, 60, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014.

He was born July 14, 1954 in Ashland, Kentucky to Frank and Edna Burch. The family moved to Oakdale in 1956. He joined the Air Force in 1972 and spent 22 years in the service. He was a Desert Storm Veteran.

Shortly after enlisting he married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Largent. Together they had one child, Phillip G. Burch Jr.

He retired from the Air Force in 1994 and returned to Oakdale to live. He worked for A.L. Gilbert Co. for the past 15 years. His many interests included hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, and barbecuing. He was a world traveler, courtesy of the US Air Force.

Survivors include his wife Kathy Burch; son, Phillip Burch, Jr. (Karen) of Omaha; siblings, Charles Burch (Sharon), of Sonora, Larry R. Burch (Adelle) of Oakdale, Kenny Burch of Idaho and Brenda Cruse of Waterford; brother-in-law, Jeff Cogburn (Susie) of Oakdale; three grandchildren, Steven, Natalie and Jacob Burch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edna.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1290 Walnut Ave., Oakdale.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Burch’s name to Wounded Warrior Project.
