Patricia Theresa Belletto, 85, of Oakdale passed away peacefully at her home on May 9 surrounded by family. Pat was born on the family farm in Empire; the fifth of six children born to William and Cecelia Irwin. She was a 1948 graduate of Modesto High School. On May 7, 1949 she married the love of her life, Edward Belletto, and became a farmer’s wife. They were happily married for 67 years and lived in the same home in rural Oakdale all that time. During her early marriage, she was a sales clerk for JC Penny in Oakdale and later at Dunlap’s Department store in Modesto. With the arrivals of her four children, she became a full-time mother. She was a loving and caring wife, mom, and grandma. Family was everything to her. Pat enjoyed cooking, hosting family gatherings, and traveling. In their retirement years, Ed and Pat traveled to many states and took several trips to Europe. Her strong faith in God and her Catholic religion were a very important part of her life. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Pat is survived by her loving husband Ed, children Tim, Anne (Everett) Souza, Donald (Charlotte), John (Elisa), and seven grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters, Mary Pitti, Genevieve (Gordon) Bastien, Betty (Ernie) Johnson, and her sister-in-law, Ruth Irwin. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bill and John Irwin.
Visitation will be at Oakdale Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. A Rosary will follow at 6 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Oakdale Citizen’s Cemetery.
