Mary Loraine Escalera, 58, died Monday, Oct. 25.

She was born in Modesto to Lee and Mary Jones and grew up in Oakdale.

Mrs. Escalera enjoyed sewing, going to thrift stores and yard sales, eating pie and drinking coffee. She loved her dogs Miley, Bobbie and Angel. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Juan Escalera; children, Samantha Shatswell, John Denys, both of Oakdale and Ray (Sarah) Hayes of Riverbank; sisters, Terry Myers, Debbie Rorabaugh, Florence Bohrer, Shirley Lusk and Patricia Jones; brother, Shannon Jones; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Theresa Silva.

Private services were held.

Allen Mortuary, Turlock, in charge of arrangements.
