We are sad to announce the passing of Lina Amelie Engelhardt Tacket. Born July 7, 1926 to Henrrick and Louisa Engelhardt, Lina grew up in Depression era Germany and lived through World War II in the small town of Hann Munden. Lina attended trade school where she trained as a beautician and was working on an American Army base where she met the man who would become her husband, American soldier Arthur Boyd Tacket. They were married March 3, 1953 and had two children Arthur Boyd Tacket Jr. and Barbara Lee (Tacket) King.

Lina and Arthur moved back to America and eventually settled in Riverbank, California. In 1954 Lina became a United States citizen, an accomplishment which she was very proud of. She worked at the Hershey plant in Oakdale, California for 15 years and was a fitness enthusiast who loved to swim and an avid traveler, especially relishing her annual winter trips to Waikiki beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. After living in Riverbank for 50 years, Lina spent her final years living in San Luis Obispo, California where she was cared for by her son Arthur and daughter-in-law Karen Tacket.

Perhaps Lina’s greatest joy came from her love of her four grandchildren and their families, to whom she was affectionately known as “Oma.” Oma will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her adventurous spirit, strong work ethic, and enthusiastic love for her family.
