Joan Derby Cushman, 88, passed away on November 1, 2015 at her home in Oakdale, CA. Joan was predeceased by her husband of almost 60 years, John Brookman Cushman and her daughter Elizabeth Ghent Cushman. Joan and John raised their children in Simi Valley, CA. She had been in Oakdale for 30 years.
She was passionate about her family and politics. She was very interested in genealogy and had traced her family through the Mayflower and back to Charlemagne.
Joan is survived by five children, sons John and Thomas and daughters Mary Nickins (George), Sarah Pacheco (George) and Julia Lokker (Dirk); 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
