Jay Skelton, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 18 in Lodi.

He was born in Seligman, Mo. and was a resident of Lodi. He moved with his family to Oakdale when he was age eight. He attended Oakdale schools and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1950. He continued to live in Oakdale for several more years before moving with his wife to Lodi.

Mr. Skelton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was a mechanic for Pacific Bell and did auto repair.

He belonged to the Lodi Street Rod Club.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Skelton of Lodi; children, Jayne Oliver of Volcano, Larry Skelton, Steven Skelton, Terry Skelton, Kip Skelton, all of Lodi; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A service and interment will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
