Gilbert A. Reynolds, 77, died Tuesday, Feb. 25 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Luna, N.M. to Abraham Owen and Fanny Letta (Jepson) Reynolds. As a young boy he grew up on the family’s homestead in Luna. Later they moved to Mesa, Arizona where he attended school.

Mr. Reynolds traveled from rodeo to rodeo along the western states as a PRCA member his entire life and was a two-time competitor at the National Finals in Oklahoma City. He was a cattleman and horse breeder and was known best for his stud horse, ‘Frosty Tops.’

He was married in 1957 and had three sons.

He began working for the Alpine Forestry Department and later managed the Spur Cattle and Feed Lot in Peoria, Ariz. He later moved his family out to California in the early ’70s and managed the Fat City Feedlot in Gonzalez, near the Salinas Valley. He later relocated to the Huasna Valley in Arroyo Grande and managed Victoria Land and Cattle Company for a number of years. He retired and moved to the Oakdale area in 1979 and continued to breed horses and raise cattle. His loyal dog Roscoe was his best little buddy and meant the world to him.

His family thanks Community Hospice and the various medical staff members for their care of him.

He is survived by his sons, Micheal (Jeannie), Duane (Valori), Randy; sisters, Hazel, Rowene, Norma; brothers, Delbert, Leroy, Dale; grandchildren, Trisha, Michelle, Rebecca, Micheal, Jordan, Russell, Christopher; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Cody, Chase, Brady, Bailey, Harper, and Preston.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Oakdale, followed by graveside services in Knights Ferry at the Oak Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Hospice.
