Frank Louis Scarlata, 79, died Friday, March 28 after a brief illness with family at his side.

He was born in Manteca and lived his entire life in San Joaquin County. He grew up in Manteca and graduated from Manteca High School. He ran the family olive oil business after the sudden death of his parents.

Mr. Scarlata served in the National Guard.

He moved his family to Ripon in 1960 and started working for N & S Irrigation and Electric and later for Vernal Canning Co. He earned his electrician and contractor’s license and established several successful businesses to include: Custom Air and Engineering, D & B Builders, S & L Construction, all of Ripon, and Manteca Supply of Manteca.

He was active in the Ripon Jaycees where he was presented with a distinguished service award of 1967. He loved golf and was a member of Oakdale Golf and Country Club.

He enjoyed spending time in his beautiful and serene almond ranch home in Escalon. He was a genuine and kind person who possessed an unyielding generosity. He had a great sense of humor and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, boss and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carmelita Scarlata; sons, Kevin and Kent Scarlata; stepchildren, Natalie Buster, Larry, Tony, and Coleen Carter; brother and sister, John and Marilyn Scarlata; son-in-laws, Maxwell Jarman and Mike Moon; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Rose Scarlata; brother, Louis Scarlata Jr., and wife of 40 years, Joan Scarlata.

Remembrances may be made in his honor to Escalon Community Ambulance.

At his request, there will be no services, and please no flowers.
