Frank Kendrick Bishop Jr. born on December 4, 1945 in Oakland, CA passed away April 6, 2019 in Modesto, CA. Frank grew up in Idaho and moved to the Waterford/Oakdale area in 1962. He graduated from Oakdale High School in 1964 and attended Modesto Junior Collage for a year.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, active and reserved for eight years of which he was in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967 aboard the U.S.S. Sutter County, LST 1150. He married Della Hawkins in 1968. Frank went to work for Hershey Chocolate in April 1968 and retired in August 2006. He was a volunteer Fireman for Oakdale Rural Fire Department for 19 years and also a member of the Loyal Order of the Cow Track from the day it opened in 1980. He really enjoyed his time traveling with the Draggin Wagons Traveling R.V. club. This was a second family to him.
Other organizations he was a member through the years were: CWSA(Civil War Scrimmage Association) ECV Mantuca 1849(Clampers), Central California Square Dancers Association and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
He leaves behind his wife of over 50 years Della Bishop, two sons Frank Kendrick Bishop III and Michael D. Bishop. Two grandchildren Colt Kendrick Bishop and Keelie Michelle Bishop. Three sisters Nellie Crawford, Bertie Plante and Nancy Carlyle (Rick) and one brother Ron Bishop (Stephanie). Mother in law Rosa Lee Hawkins. Sister in Laws Martha Post and Frances Paiz and brother in law Leland Hawkins (Judy) and many nephews and nieces. Preceding him in death his father Frank K. Bishop Sr. and mother Bertha A. Bishop.
There will be a graveside service at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 3205 McCabe Road, Santa Nella, CA on May 3, 2019 at 11 a.m. With a celebration of life (in his words: “An Irish Wake”) will follow at “The Barn” 9441 Tegner Road, Hilmar CA.
