Elton Lee Beason, 76, died Sunday, June 26.
He was born in Wister, Okla. and lived in Oakdale for the past 56 years.
He was a member of River Oak Grace Church and the NRA.
Mr. Beason was an avid bow hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening, and “Friday night family poker games.” He was an expert at canning vegetables, jellies, and pepper jams, which he shared with everyone. He loved to cook and bake, and insisted his family come to his house for Christmas dinner. He volunteered his time at the annual Thanksgiving Dinner held at the Community Center.
He loved and cherished his family and friends. He also loved his computer games on POGO, where he met many new friends all over the United States.
He is survived by his children, Becky (Gerry) Hammond, Debby (Ken) Burton, Dave (Stacy) Beason; brothers, Bill (Pat) Beason of Wister, Okla., Charles Beason of Texas; sister, Betty Abel of Oakdale; grandchildren, Amy Burton, Stephanie (Paul) Ringeisen, Gerry (Jaime) Hammond, Ryan Hammond, Kassidy (Rob) Beason, and David Beason; five great-grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Beason; and sister, Wanda Burkehead.
Funeral services were lead by Pastor Phil Rohrer on July 1 at River Oak Grace Church. A graveside committal service was held July 5 at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
