Elizabeth Anne “Betty” Zierman of Oakdale, California, age 81, passed away August 2, 2018.

Betty was born June 20, 1937 in Syracuse, New York to Kenneth and Gertrude Preston. She is one of seven children. When she was a young child her family moved across country, settling in Stockton, CA. She attended High School in Stockton and at the age of 19 married the love of her life, Orville. They were married 46 years. They purchased a large lot in Hayward and Orville and his father built their home and a duplex on the property. They raised their three children in Hayward and in 1988 moved to Oakdale, California to retire on a small ranchette, where their grandkids could ride dirt bikes and horses. Betty was a Christian and after moving to Oakdale found her new church home at River Oak Grace Community Church, she had a close group of friends that met weekly for fellowship and fun. She was an amazing quilter and loved to travel in her motor home when Orville was still with her. While relatively healthy all her life she suffered in the prison of dementia the last several years, she passed away from complications from this debilitating disease with her daughter, Julie, by her side listening to her favorite gospel singer Josh Groban.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Gertrude Preston; sisters, Barbara McCarty, Jackie Anderson, Becky Nohelty; and her brother, Fred Preston; husband Orville Zierman; grandsons, Ryan “Munchie” Taylor and Rhett Austin Taylor.

She is survived by her sister, Ginger Birchfield; her brother, Bill Preston; children, Kenneth Zierman, Phyllis Wegerhoff, and Julie Taylor (husband Dave); and two grandsons, Billy Zierman and Brent Taylor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty and Orville will be interred together near their two grandsons, Munchie and Rhett.

Graveside service will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Acacia Memorial Park, 801 Scenic Drive, Modesto; Eaton Family Funeral in charge of arrangements.
