Edman (Ed) Albert White, age 77, passed away on January 21, 2019. He was the ninth child born to Ralph and Richaline White in Oakdale, CA. on May 30, 1941. In June of 1960 he graduated from Oakdale High School where he was very active in both sports and student government, holding the honor of senior class president. While in high school he worked at Bills Tire Shop to support himself. Edman attended Yuba College where he played first string quarterback and took classes in business and meteorology as the weather was always an interest of his. After his college days he joined the US Air Force from 1962-1966 achieving the rank of E-4 and earning the Outstanding Airman Award. Edman spent most of his time during the Air Force on Middleton Island in the Gulf of Alaska and Travis Air Force Base.

Edman worked for PG&E and then moved to Willows in 1975 where he began his 30 year career in farm store management to include FarMart, Fisco and Tractor Supply and rounded out his career working for the County of Glenn. Ed belonged to many community groups throughout the years and included, The J.C.’s, The NRA, The Glenn County Fair Board, Kiwanis, and Chartered the Willows Key Club. Later in life he was active in the American Legion and the American Cancer Society. Ed had a deep love of sports. He enjoyed officiating basketball, volleyball, and softball at the local level. He coached youth football in both Vacaville and Willows along with the powder puff women’s football team. Ed was a great supporter of the 49ers, SF Giants, and the Golden State Warriors. He was a great outdoorsman who loved to garden, go on walks, and always looked forward to the big game hunting trips with his brothers in Colorado. In the last years of his life he really enjoyed watching birds in his yard and feeding them brought him great joy.

Edman enjoyed fishing and caught the catch of his life in 1964 when he married Valerie Jean McClure. He and Valerie were married for 54 years. They have two children, Hollie Geroy (Kevin), and Edman (Mary), and seven grandchildren (Auston, Hanah, Elizabeth, Elijah, Kayla, Christopher, and Dylan), all who loved him and will miss him very much. He is survived by his lovely wife Valerie and his two children Hollie and Ed along with his sisters Verna and Evaline Majors and brothers Richard and Roger White. He was preceded in death by parents as well as sisters Erma, Richaline, and brothers Ralph and Vernon.

The memorial service was held at the Willows Cemetery on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11 a.m. A celebration of life immediately followed at the ARK Christian Center, 222 N. Butte St., Willows, CA 95988.
