Dorothy Marie Wright, 83, died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 2 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Palmyra, Mo. to Samuel V. and Ola Magers.

She married the love of her life, Harold E. Wright, in May 1948.

She was a wonderful, vivacious, loving woman. She showered unconditional love on all who knew her.

Mrs. Wright enjoyed her many activities. She was Sunday School Superintendent of Bethel Assembly of God Church, Oakdale, for many years. She was a past president of Christian Women’s Club, a President’s Club member of Avon, and many people’s favorite Avon Lady for more than 50 years.

She was also a talented seamstress, loved reading her Bible, and listening to the Gaithers every day. She valued her many friends. She loved singing with Sweet Adelines (Modesto Chorus) and also her quartet, Starlight Connection.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harold; daughters, Cindy Smart, Marci Wright, both of Oakdale, Sharon (Bob) Ozbirn of Sonora; brother Mel (Clara) Magers; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces, and many others who thought of her like a mother or grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her son, Randy K. Wright.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8 at Oaklawn Cemetery, Oakdale. A celebration of life will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 105 East G St., Oakdale.
