Donald W. Glor, 82, died peacefully on Thursday, May 19 at home surrounded by family members and a hospice nurse. He succumbed to cancer that spread from his lungs to other organs throughout his body.

He grew up on a small farm in Arcadia, Kansas. He carried that strong work ethic with him throughout his life. He was a resident of California for 53 years and a resident of Oakdale for the last 27 years.

Mr. Glor was a Korean War veteran as a member of the U.S. Navy, where he learned his trade as an aircraft mechanic.

He retired from United Air Lines at SFO’s maintenance base as a mechanic after 29 years of service. During his long career as an aircraft mechanic, he also taught himself how to build cabinets, and became a master cabinet and furniture maker, which he continued to do for many years after his retirement from the airlines. He could make just about anything from wood, and prided himself on always doing his very best.

He loved his family and friends dearly, and they all loved him in return. He will be missed. Hospice provided wonderful support for him and his family through the final stages of his cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanetta Glor; sons, Dennis McGhee, Michael McGhee, Don Glor; sisters, Roberta Frutos of Lewiston, Donna Luce of Branson, MO.

He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Glor; mother, Zetta Buchanan; seven sisters; and three brothers.

Remembrances may be made to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356-9259.
