Don passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020. He was born in Oakdale and lived the majority of his life there.
As a child he and his parents moved to Richmond, Ca during World War II but returned after the war ended. He left again when he joined the US Navy. Don was stationed aboard three different aircraft carriers - the Essex, the Hancock, and the Bon Homme Richard. During his time in the Navy, he traveled to many places in the US and the World, but ended up back home in Oakdale where he married his wife Betty and began raising their sons Marc and Mike. Don eventually retired from Hershey’s after 31 years. Don loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He loved his hunting dogs. Don will be remembered for many things, especially story-telling. Don is survived by Betty, and his sons Marc (Tammy), Mike (April), his grandchildren Colton and Allyson and his dog Maggie.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 18, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 West F St., Oakdale Ca.
